A reflection on today's Sacred Scripture:

The readings of today give us a sense of expectation.... of looking toward the future. In the first reading we see the description of the beautiful heavenly Jerusalem. Then in the gospel, Christ tells Nathanael that he will see even greater things.

As we get caught up in the everyday details of life, it’s easy to take up the attitude of Nathanael before he met Christ: His statement, "Can anything good come from Nazareth?" (John 1:46) Jesus’ statement, which has persisted throughout time, can no longer be our attitude because we have met Christ. We are to see the blessedness of each moment and each detail of our lives even though what we are doing in our own place in the universe may not seem important at the time. This in fact is the meaning of 'the little way' as pointed out by St. Therese, The Little Flower. Everything we do has tremendous potential to change the universe and even beyond. We just cannot see it now!
